Black Card Interface (2HP)

The 2HP versions of BCI allow you to use cards made for the Tiptop Audio Z-DSP with the Black Hole DSP MK1, MK2, Pico DSP od DUAL FX from EricaSynths.

- The MK1 version plugs to the expansion ROM connector and requires no modification. Simply be sure to enable the external EEPROM by following the official instructions.

Units manufactured since August 2021 have an additional connector on the back that allows using the original ROM expansion. It will be automatically selected when no card is present.

- The MK2 version plugs to the ROM programming connector and requires desoldering one of the 3 original EEPROMS from the Black Hole DSP which might void your warranty.

- The Pico version plugs to the ROM programming connectors and requires desoldering the original EEPROM from the Pico DSP which might void your warranty.

- The DUAL FX version plugs to the ROM programming connectors and requires desoldering the original EEPROM from the Pico DSP which might void your warranty. Simply remove the screw on the back of DUAL FX and detach the PCBs in order to access this component. A single EEPROM is used for both sections.

- The DIP8 version is a derivative of the MK1 version, and is supposed to work with any Spin FV-1 based module, as long as it uses an EEPROM in a DIP8 socket.

Extra care must be taken with the DIP8 version, as some modules may use a microcontroller that can access the memory and update its content, meaning you could eventually overwrite the cards algorithms.

Please check how your module works before buying, as XODES cannot be held responsible in case anything goes wrong with the host module or cards, and we'll only be able to bring you limited support.

This version comes with a hardwired ~15cm long adapter by default. Please add a comment at checkout if your use needs a longer cable.

Do not try to perform modifications on your modules if you have no experience with SMT soldering.

Only the person performing the modification can be held responsible in case of trouble.

If you're not about to perform the modification yourself, don't pay more than 15€ + VAT to have it installed.

The original EEPROM from the MK2, Pico and DUAL FX versions can be soldered back onto BCI, so these can still be accessed when no card is inserted. BCI would then automatically switch to the card's algorithms when detected.

You don't need to order backpacks to use with the 2HP interface, the part connecting to the module is hardwired.

All parameters are accessible on all units, and are arranged as follows (this cannot be changed). The MK1, Pico and DUAL FX outputs will be fully wet :

Param1 Dry/Wet Param1 Dry/Wet Dry/Wet
Param2 Param1 Param2 Param1 Param1
Param3 Param2 Param3 Param2 Param2

On the PicoDSP the algorithms order do not go from 1 to 8. Please refer to the following table to define the correct order, based on the card's documentation :
